Collection 2024

HORIZON

When our gaze wanders to the horizon, the pettiness of everyday life moves out of focus for a moment – while we enjoy the far-sighted vision, the peace and the relaxation that all convey a sense of the big picture. Such elementary moments of well-being are now to be made tangible in interiors thanks the fabrics in our 2024 collection. By means of natural fibres, colours and textures they will re-interpret the weather and clouds, times of the day and year, the lines and silhouettes of that magical dividing line between heaven and earth. As impressions guiding us from the northern hemisphere to the sunny south – thereby both subtly and intriguingly broadening our furnishing horizon.

» SANDÖN «

Islands are places of yearning: landscapes surrounded by the sea that take on a special character which touches and fascinates us. Like Gotska Sandön – Gotland’s both striking and charming sandy isle whose landscape and vegetation served as an inspiration for our 2023 collection. Far away from the nearest mainland this Swedish island comprising of little but sand and pebbles in the Baltic Sea has been formed by the weather and tides for millennia. The unique light of the North brings about lines and structures that when translated into textiles inject the lightness and joie de vivre of a summer’s day at the sea into interiors.

» NOMAD «

At home the world over

Fabrics create emotions, give rise to longings and memories. Patterns, colours
and touch send us to other countries and on journeys of association without
even having to change location. Here it is only our senses that need to be
cosmopolitan and ready to “check in” to acquire fascinating new experiences.
And we take the most beautiful of these home with us as souvenirs. The nya nordiska collection Nomad therefore extends an invitation to be guided by this personal compass. In fabric worlds that enrich our own journey through life – day by day.

Fragrance of the North

A fabric collection that appeals to all our senses comprises a variety of perfectly harmonising compo- nents – like a fragrance only fully unfolding through its interplay of top, heart and base notes. This was the image guiding us in the development of the nya nordiska collection 2021. Our path of associations here led us to the clarity of Nordic nature that offers all the elements of this fascinating interplay.

»Lagom«.

Modern design, natural fibres and striking structures are the unmistakable signature of nya nordiska.

Sixteen new, inspiring qualities are combined in the current »lagom« collection, including five exclusive fabrics developed in cooperation with London-based product designer Bodo Sperlein. Wool, linen and cotton caress the eyes and fingertips, organic structures convey a sense of craftsmanship and fluffy surfaces ensure a sense of well-being. At the same time, each fabric maintains the ideal measure of things: between exclusivity and suitability for everyday use, highlight and basic, eye-catcher and team player – simply »lagom« in every respect.

Collection 2019

A playful motion

Core From the first idea to the last thread, the nya nordiska spring collection 2019 is characterised by the playful interaction with materiality. Motion is the main topic of the line, reflected in its design and handling of shapes, colours and materials: flowing structures, interlaced images, organic imprints and embroideries. We even move our popular classics a little further.

a new interpretation

Streifzüge

A poetically inspired title with no English equivalent serves as a succinct heading for nya nordiska’s spring collection:

“Streifzüge” is the theme of the collection – a play on the words combining “stripes” and “explorations”. On the one hand, it stands for the delight found in letting one’s imagination roam in order to fully exploit total design freedom. On the other hand, it stands for the desire to interpret stripes as nya nordiska’s classic archetype and core competence in a novel manner.

For the 2017 collection stripes are innovatively “dissolved”, superimposed, cut up and re-arranged. They are compacted into fine clouds, shimmer like city lights by night, or sketch sea birds onto the sky above the sea. Their creative explorations touch all textile domains from weaving and knitting to printing and appliqués or openwork fabrics. The stylistic direction you opt for merely depends on your specific context and individual preferences because nya nordiska‘s three collection worlds open up all creative options.

Using colours and structures

Creatively coloured

Core Classics Autumn Collection 2016/2017 creatively coloured. Our current autumn collection turns colour and texture into a fascinating gallery of textiles. Interiors with the most varied of styles prove the ideal setting for these creations.

The fabric spectrum here ranges from purist Asian plissé and the natural colour and touch of linen through to the opulence of ruby-red velvet. A total of eight new and further developments display the contemporary colour spectrum in a rich variety of ways – predominantly in fabric widths of three metres and above.

With this collection, we combine the clear nya nordiska design statement and our fabric expertise with emotions – a targeted colour offensive. This allows architects, interior designers and interior decorators to coordinate textile planning with precise colour toning and effortless floor to ceiling draperies.

Drapery and upholstery fabrics that prove harmonious team players in combination with other interior components are quite justifiably generating great interest.

inspired by nature

Floral finesse

Inspired by nature – nya nordiska’s 2016 fabric innovations experiment with floral and botanic patterns. Interpreted as textiles, refined creations arise from natural shapes and organic textures. Light and carefree and yet with timeless aesthetics and a clear message. With their expressive patterns the 24 new fabrics create strong accents in room and furnishing design – thereby developing the latest trends in interior design in our nya nordiska’s typical style.

The theme is explored with great technical, material and design diversity:

In familiar, near-nature tones, one part of the collection focuses on classic-looking materials in wild silk, linen and wool as well as signature fabrics with allover foliage motifs. Hand-woven and hand-embroidered creations produced traditionally in India give expression to the hand-made feel and make every metre of the special fabrics unique.

Natural non-colours and modern pastel tones define the filigree print designs and flatteringly tactile plains that toy with captivating mottled effects and refined weave structures.

Further, the floral theme is interpreted in an airy, feminine way with lavish blooms: delicate Lurex effects shed a pale shimmer over blooming summer meadows that shine in a metallic glow. More abstract versions in the form of graphic Art Deco patterns or filigree wave designs perpetuate the ingenious interplay with the light and create exciting iridescent effects and highlights. The array of materials ranges from sophisticated yarns like silk and linen through to warm pure new wool. The colour scheme illuminates the fabrics with strong accents in red, yellow and blue tones.

The modern millefleur interpretation and expressive colours refresh the floral inspiration. The tried and tested easy care materials made of cotton, polyester and Trevira CS underline the uncomplicated and fresh nature of the young collection world. In exciting colour combinations strong graphic designs toy with the typical plaids and stripes nya nordiska originally came from and is until today famous for. The patterned fabric creations are rounded off by varied plains, a mesh suitable for public premises and a sporty pleated fabric.
